AUDIOPHILE AUDITION focuses on recordings of interest to audiophiles and collectors, with an accent on surround sound for music, and on all hi-res disc formats.  Over 100 SACD, DVD Video/Audio and standard CD reviews are published during each month, and our archives go back to January 2001.

We're beginning the New Year with an exciting drawing for fans of SACD, two legendary pianists, and an amazing technology.  The names of ten Audio- phile Audition readers who register on our site this month will be drawn at the end of January, and they will be shipped the Zenph Studios recreation of Glenn Gould's original 1955 recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations, plus the recreation of Art Tatum's Live at the Shrine performance of 1949.  The Zenph process exactly replicates every note originally recorded and ignores the noise and distortions of the primitive mono recordings. The digital files are played back on a Yamaha Disklavier Pro Mark III Concert Grand and recorded in multichannel DSD surround. There are separate binaural pickups for uncanny headphone playback, plus a standard CD layer.
